Great product but not happy with a plastic mixing jug. Just returned this item to john lewis after 24 hours. The product demo was good, seems to be very flexible & able to do most things you'd expect for a machine at this sort of price range. However, as i delved deeper into it's working capabilities it became obvious that the machine was clearly lacking a glass unit rather than plastic on top for blending. I'm not comfortable with mixing foods at such high speeds in plastic containers where the plastics can and will break down over time.
The vitamix website states that the unit is bpa free however, if it's made in places like china there are no guarantees that this will be the case. It would have been nice if the option had been there to choose between a glass or plastic mixing jug, after all it's not cheap. Other than this concern i think it's an excellent product.
